Glucksman Ireland House strives to provide access to Irish and Irish-American culture and foster excellence in the study of Ireland, Irish America and the global Irish Diaspora. To meet these goals, we are dedicated to publishing books and periodicals at the highest academic level to meet the demands of our growing field.
Glucksman Ireland House NYU publishes the American Journal of Irish Studies (AJIS), an academic journal that is intended to be a forum for discussion on Irish and Irish-American literature, history, arts and culture, and contemporary issues.
Radharc: A Journal of Irish and Irish-American Studies, published 2000 to 2007, is the former incarnation of AJIS.
The annual Barra Ó Donnabháin Symposium Lecture was established by Glucksman Ireland House at New Yrok University in 2006 to commemorate the life Barra Ó Donnabháin, a beloved and influential teacher and advocate of the language. Ó Donnabháin, from Leap, Co. Cork, took a degree in Irish and in Latin at University College Cork and immigrated to the US in 1963
Glucksman Ireland House NYU has teamed up with NYU Press to bring the best new work in Irish Studies into print. Launched in February 2006 with the publication of Making the Irish American: The History and Heritage of the Irish in the United States, this co-publication series now also includes John Devoy's Catalpa Expedition and Ireland: Contested Ideas of Nationalism and History, as well.
