Since Glucksman Ireland House opened in 1993, our aim has been two-fold: to establish a permanent Irish studies program within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at New York University and to provide the New York City public with regular access to Irish and Irish-American arts and culture.

The Irish studies program is crucial to our mission, providing formal opportunities to pursue research into the history and culture of Ireland and Irish America at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At present, four full-time faculty, supplemented by several adjunct professors, teach courses that embrace the Irish literary renaissance, early and modern Irish history, politics, film, music, drama, the Irish language, and Irish-American history and literature.

At the same time, our Public Events program has established New York University as a major center for educational and cultural events related to Ireland and Irish America. Many distinguished individuals have participated in this program, including poets Seamus Heaney, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, and John Montague; novelists Edna O'Brien, Patrick McCabe, and John McGahern; writers Frank McCourt and Nuala O'Faolain; filmmakers Neil Jordan and John Boorman; musicians Mick Moloney and Tommy Peoples; and former President of Ireland Mary Robinson.

In addition to supporting our Irish Studies and Public Events programs, your gift will also help fund student scholarship; the publication of our journal, Radharc; the visits of established and new Irish artists and scholars; and the hiring of specialized adjunct faculty who serve to broaden the curriculum.
