As part of his 2007 Stewart Parker award, Irish playwright Sean McLoughlin is coming to Glucksman Ireland House NYU to see a reading of his own Noah and the Towerflower.
Origin, in association with the Stewart Parker Trust and Glucksman Ireland House NYU, will launch McLoughlin's work here in the U.S. on May 26th as part of our fourth annual Mondays of May play-reading series at NYU's Glucksman Ireland House. We invite you to join us to hear the first presentation of this award-winning play in America. We are delighted that Mr. McLoughlin will be on hand to chat and answer your questions.
From this year forward, in addition to winning the prize money, the recipient of the Stewart Parker Trust Award will be flown to New York where his or her work will be presented at Origin Theatre Company’s annual play reading series, Mondays of May, presented in association with Glucksman Ireland House NYU. This additional honor will immediately introduce the winning playwright to New York City’s renowned theatre community of artists, audiences, and press.
Established 20 years ago in tribute to Northern Irish playwright Stewart Parker, The Stewart Parker Award annually honors and promotes Ireland’s hottest new playwriting talent. Previous winners of the Trust's annual awards have included Conor McPherson, Enda Walsh, Sebastian Barry, Mark O'Rowe, Gary Duggan and Paul Meade, some launched in the U.S. by Origin.
This new association with The Stewart Parker Trust is a natural step for Origin Theatre Company, as both organizations share a passion for nurturing new work by emerging Irish playwrights. We invite you to join us in launching this exciting new program. Mondays in May is now in its fourth year at Glucksman Ireland House NYU, which is extremely proud to host the series.
Free and open to the public.
RSVP to Origin at (212) 253-8300.
