Acclaimed West Kerry artist Seosaimhín Ni Bheaglaoich leads a fun, informative session on traditional Irish-language song.  Learn Irish vocabulary through song and practice pronunciation.

Of a famous and musically accomplished family from the Gaeltacht area of Corca Dhuibhne and educated at Trinity College Dublin, Seosaimhín was a founding member of the group MACALLA, Ireland’s first all-female traditional music group, which enjoyed great success in the 1980s.

Irish television audiences first became familiar with Seosaimhín as a solo performer when she hosted the popular series “The Mountain Lark” from 1993 onwards. In that year she also undertook a highly successful tour of the U.S. organized by the Irish-American Cultural Institute. She worked with Radio na Gaeltachta in Dublin and released her solo album, “Taobh na Greine: Under the Sun” and “Suailcí Sona: Songs from a Gaeltacht Childhood.”

This event is made possible by a generous grant by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
