Please join Pádraig Ó Cearúill and Ashley Davis for an afternoon of instruction in traditional Irish singing.

Work on repertoire, technique and pronunciation within the context of the Irish song/language. Prior knowledge of the Irish language is not essential.

About the Instructors:

Pádraig Ó Cearúill, Senior Irish Language Lecturer, NYU
A native of Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Pádraig Ó Cearúill grew up with Irish as his first language. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Irish Language and History and completing graduate studies in Education at Trinity College, Dublin, Pádraig came to New York University in 1995 where he became the Irish Language Lecturer for Glucksman Ireland House and earned his Masters’ degree in Communication and Culture.
Ashley Davis, Performer, Songwriter, Teacher
ashleydavis.jpgA native of Kansas with a Masters degree from the University of Limerick in sean-nós singing (“old style”), Ashley brings a unique perspective to traditional singing. After a year as the vocal soloist for “Lord of the Dance,” Ashley now resides in New York where she performs regularly, teaches private students, and gives workshops throughout the United States and abroad (most recently in the Isle of Man).
