NYU Irish Language Lecturers Pádraig Ó Cearúill & Hilary Mhic Shuibhne and NYU’s Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Mairéad McKendry lead a day of learning Irish through sessions on vocabulary and pronunciation with creative group activities in Irish.
Prior knowledge of the Irish language is not essential. Afternoon tea and light refreshments will be provided.

About the Instuctors:
Pádraig Ó Cearúill, Senior Irish Language Lecturer, NYU A native of Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Pádraig Ó Cearúill grew up with Irish as his first language. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Irish Language and History and completing graduate studies in Education at Trinity College, Dublin, Padraig came to New York University in 1995 where he became the Irish Language Lecturer for Glucksman Ireland House and earned his Masters’ degree in Communication and Culture.
Hilary Mhic Shuibhne, Irish Language Lecturer, NYU Born in Limerick, Hilary Mhic Shuibhne has been active in the regional Irish language community since moving to the U.S. in the mid-90's. She currently teaches Irish language to undergraduates in NYU Irish Studies Program. Having earned her Bachelor's in Commerce from University College Dublin and trained as a Graphic Designer, Hilary is currently pursuing her Masters in Irish and Irish-American Studies at NYU.
Mairéad McKendry, Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant, NYU Mairéad McKendry, from Ballymena, Co. Donegal, attended Jesus College, Oxford, for her B.A. in English and Celtic Languages and Masters dissertation on "An Investigation of Comprehension: Related Skills in Children with English as a Native Language and Children Learning EAL." Mairéad came to NYU in September 2007 to participate in Fulbright's Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship program in the Irish language, assisting Pádraig Ó Cearúill and teaching Irish to NYU undergraduates.
